Traci Bliss

With a PhD from Stanford, Traci Bliss served as a university professor for nearly two decades. She now spends her time speaking and writing about the history and conservation of the area surrounding Santa Cruz, California. Traci Bliss supports a number of local organizations, including the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (MAH) in her role as President of the History Forum, an auxiliary of the museum. Bliss has doubled the Forum's membership and awarded a number of research grants that support local historians.

Through immersive field trips, tours of Evergreen Cemetery, and group visits to the museum, MAH helps students explore the history of the county and build a stronger connection to their community. Although MAH’s on-site field trips and tours of Evergreen Cemetery are designed specifically for students in third through fifth grade, the museum’s custom group tours are open to all ages. In 2016, Traci Bliss gave the keynote address for Evergreen's annual legacy day. Included in her talk was the story of why, in the 1850's, her family donated the land for the beautifully situated cemetery. Evergreen field trip activities are available from October through June, and group tours are available Tuesday through Sunday throughout the year. For more information, visit www.santacruzmah.org.
